High season on the West Coast: plan your cleaning in good time
The West Coast has a short, intense season. From late June to mid-August, the holiday homes in Hvide Sande, Søndervig, Henne Strand, Nymindegab and Blåvand are booked almost without a break. For owners, this is the period when the money is made, but it is also the period when reliable cleaning is hardest to get. The most important decision you make as an owner is not the price per night. It is when you secure your changeover days.
Why calendars fill up so fast
A cleaning team can only reach a limited number of houses on a changeover day. When most guests check out on Saturday morning and new ones arrive that same afternoon, a bottleneck forms. Everyone wants help in exactly the same time window. The owners who book a fixed agreement first get the best slots, and those who wait have to take what is left, if there is anything at all.
Lock in your changeover days early
The simplest way to avoid the problem is to set up a fixed agreement for the whole season before it starts. Once we know your regular changeover day, usually Saturday, we can plan the route and make sure your house is always on the list. Because we already run a coastal route through Hvide Sande, Nymindegab, Henne Strand, Lønne and Vejers, slotting another house into an existing zone is far easier than squeezing in a stray job miles off the path. That gives three advantages:
- A guaranteed slot in the busiest period, where loose jobs often have to be turned down.
- A fixed price agreed in advance, with no surcharge for rush bookings.
- The same team every time, who know the house, the key box and the access arrangements.
How to plan the season
Start as early as the spring. Once you have an overview of your bookings, you know which Saturdays are changeover days. Send them to us in one go and we will put them in. Also remember to plan a deep clean before the season starts and one after it ends. The pre-clean ensures the first guests meet an immaculate house, and the post-clean takes the accumulated summer of sand, limescale and wear, so the house is ready for winter storage or the next season.
Common high-season mistakes
The most expensive mistake is waiting until the last minute. In July there is simply no spare capacity to take on new fixed customers, and a cancelled clean can mean an unhappy guest and a poor review. Another mistake is switching cleaners mid-season, which means the new help does not know the particulars of the house. Finally, many underestimate the need for flexibility when a booking suddenly changes. With a fixed agreement there is always someone who knows the house to take the extra load.
In an area like Blåvand and Oksbøl, where holiday-home density is very high, a well-planned route saves everyone time and money. The earlier we know your dates, the better we can coordinate with the other houses in the same zone.
What changes when the weather turns
The West Coast does not give you stable summer weather, and that has practical consequences for cleaning. A run of rainy days means more wet sand tracked through the house, more towels in the wash and more pressure on airing and damp control between guests. A planned agreement absorbs these swings far better than ad hoc calls, because the team already knows your house and can adjust the time spent without renegotiating every visit. It also means that when something unexpected happens, a guest leaving the house in a worse state than usual, or an extra mid-week clean requested at short notice, there is a known team to lean on rather than a frantic search for whoever happens to be free in Hvide Sande or Henne Strand on a Saturday in July.
