Save both time and tax
Get up to 18,300 DKK back per person
Your cleaning is partly tax-deductible in Denmark. The 2026 service deduction (servicefradrag) gives you up to 18,300 DKK per person, and roughly 26% of the labour cost comes back via your tax. We do the cleaning, you save both hours and kroner.
The numbers
What you can deduct
The service deduction covers the labour cost for selected services in your home, including cleaning of both your private home and your holiday home (fritidsbolig). Materials are not covered. Two adults at the same address can both claim, giving a combined cap of 36,600 DKK in 2026.
Examples
What do you actually save?
📦 Move-out cleaning: pass the inspection first time
As a student I did my own move-out cleaning. I didn't know you could hire a professional service, and I had no idea it was tax-deductible. The result: a weekend lost, and the landlord still kept part of my deposit because something wasn't good enough. That's a typical first-time renter trap.
Tax saving via service deduction: ~702 DKK
Effective price: ~1,998 DKK
Plus: we follow the landlord's checklist, you pass the inspection first time. No deposit lost.
🏖️ Holiday home: keep the holiday alive to the last day
You go on holiday to relax, not to scrub the oven on Saturday evening. Changeover cleaning or end-of-stay cleaning means you head home rested while we get the house guest-ready or finished.
Tax saving via service deduction: ~390 DKK
Effective price: ~1,110 DKK
Applies to your holiday home as long as it is your own property. Commercial holiday rental has slightly different rules, we will guide you.
🏠 Recurring private cleaning: more free time every week
You come home from work tired. You have kids, hobbies, a partner, maybe a dog. How much of your free time do you want to spend mopping floors? 1-2 hours every week is 50-100 hours a year, an entire working week or two. We come as the same team every time and learn your home.
As a couple you both reach the cap (36,600 DKK in 2026)
Tax saving via service deduction: up to ~8,112 DKK
Effective price: ~23,088 DKK / year
Plus: 50-100 free hours per year. That's worth more than the tax saving alone.
✨ Deep cleaning before high season
Holiday home owner? A thorough deep clean before guests arrive means better reviews, fewer complaints, and you avoid spending a weekend going through the house yourself.
Tax saving via service deduction: ~1,040 DKK
Effective price: ~2,960 DKK
The truth about "I'll just do it myself"
DIY cleaning isn't free. You pay in time, energy and sometimes in surprising hidden costs.
- ⏰Your time is worth more than 100 DKK/hour. A deep clean is 4-6 hours you could spend on family, hobbies or rest.
- 🛏️A weekend spent cleaning is a weekend lost. You don't get it back, and your body knows it.
- 💸The wrong products can damage surfaces. Stone composite, parquet, induction hobs and bathroom grout each have their own rules. Wrong product, sudden repair bill.
- 🤧Heavy deep cleans are hard on hands, back and lungs. Especially descaling and oven cleaning.
- 🔍You miss things you don't know a landlord checks for. Frames, panels, hood filter, inside cabinets, scale behind the toilet. A pro knows where the eye lands at inspection.
- 🧺Holidays should be holidays. If the last Saturday at the holiday home is spent cleaning, you didn't have a holiday, you had 6 days of holiday and 1 day of extra work.
How to claim
5 steps to get the money back
- We do the cleaning at your home, holiday home or move-out address.
- We send an itemised invoice with the labour cost listed separately. The deduction is calculated from the labour cost.
- You log in to TastSelv at SKAT. For 2026 you use the Forskudsopgørelse, for 2025 you adjust the Årsopgørelse.
- Find "Servicefradrag (461)" under Håndværkerfradrag og Servicefradrag.
- Enter the labour cost amount. SKAT calculates the tax saving automatically and credits it against your tax.
Official source: SKAT, Servicefradrag. Amounts apply for 2025 and 2026. We are not tax advisors, but we always send a correct invoice with the labour cost specified. Check SKAT for any changes.

Frequently asked questions
Yes. The Danish service deduction (servicefradrag) covers things like ordinary cleaning, window cleaning and dishwashing in your own home. There is an annual cap per person, and the rates change from year to year, so check the current figures on skat.dk. The deduction makes regular help at home cheaper than many people think.
You report the amount yourself on your annual statement (årsopgørelse) or preliminary statement (forskudsopgørelse) in TastSelv on skat.dk. We do not report it for you, but we make sure you get an invoice with everything SKAT needs: our CVR number, a description of the work, the labour cost and the date. That makes it easy for you to enter the amount.
You need to be able to document both the work and the payment. We always send an invoice with our CVR number, a description of the work and the labour cost. Important: the payment must be made electronically, for example by bank transfer, MobilePay or card, not in cash. Otherwise SKAT will not approve the deduction. Because we invoice you, your payment is always documented.
You enter the labour cost under the service deduction on your annual statement in TastSelv on skat.dk. The deduction gives a tax saving of roughly a quarter of the labour cost, which you receive through your annual statement as overpaid tax, or on an ongoing basis if you adjust your preliminary statement. You will find the exact rate and the annual cap on skat.dk.
It applies to a holiday home you use yourself, but not to a summer house you run as a rental or business. If you both use the house yourself and rent it out, only the private part counts. If you are in doubt, check the rules on skat.dk or ask your accountant.
